Summer Camp 2009!
Studies have shown that scouts that attend summer camp are far more likely to succeed in
Scouting. The vast majority of Eagles have attended multiple summer camps. It is a fun time and provides an opportunity for both fun and growth.
If you are interested we can only guarantee a spot if initial payment is made by March 4th. After that we risk losing any remaining available spots to other troops.
This year we will be returning to Ransburg - July 5 to 11.
Camp fee is $250 per scout.
Payments schedule is:
$110 due March 3, close of troop meeting.
$140 due April 28, close of troop meeting.
Late fee is $25 per scout.
Payments are not refundable.
Sign up form will be on FORMS TABLE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMER CAMP REQUIREMENTS
Water Sports require CPR training!
- If you have a current card and are certified, bring it to the next meeting to show to a Scoutmaster
- If you need training (this is not certification) a class will be held Sun June 8 from 2:30-4:00 pm in Rooms A & B. Be sure to sign up on the Forms table or send Mr. Hart an email! You will need a signed permission slip for this class.
Aquatic Merit Badges require that you pass the BSA Swim Test!
- Can be done at camp (but eats up alot of time) OR the troop can get you certified when you take the test at the Westerville Rec Center Sun June 8 at 5:00pm! Meet in the lobby and have your ride stay and wait if this is all you need; should not take but 20-25 minutes. Be sure to sign up on the Forms table or send Mr. Hart an email! You will need a signed permission slip for this class.

MERIT BADGE CLASS SELECTIONS
Here is the merit badge schedule for summer camp. All those going should start to make their selections to preregister and get a spot. The camp is booked full the week we attend so we want to lock in on MB classes quickly.
New scouts should sign-up by April 15th and also make selections ASAP, use green payment form for fees at meetings.
ASMs will be reviewing your selections with you so be sure to see them either before or after a meeting, during free patrol time or at a free meeting. If all else fails, e-mail me - but the face-to-face is important. Be sure to read the seven bullet points at the end of the schedule before making selections!!
MB prerequisites can be checked at meetings to make sure nothing has changed (2008 Advancement Book); or on line at http://www.meritbadge.org/; this is an unofficial BSA site but it is usually pretty up to date.
UPDATE- here is the revised pre-requisites schedule Scouts should have ALL the prereqs. completed by the time they get to camp. MB books are available in the troop library, scout shop or Westerville Library (make sure you have the current revision.)
Merit Badge books are available at scout shop, troop library, and some Public Libraries. You need to get books for the badges you are signed up for, read them ahead of time, do all the prerequisites before camp (some can be weeks long) and bring the MB books to camp!! |
